To be honest, we didn't make it.

The idea of bringing textiles back to Switzerland was incredibly appealing to us. Lukas, our founder, had images of the old textile industry in St. Gallen in his head: fine fabrics, sewing machines, craftsmanship.

But the reality was different.

Cotton grows on the other side of the world. In Switzerland today, there are no weaving mills or dye works that could process fabrics on a large scale. And those who sew here do so in small workshops – often in social workshops. That's great, but it's only possible in very small quantities. A shirt produced in Switzerland would cost around CHF 79.90, even with a small margin .

Feasible, yes – and we admire every brand that does or has tried to do this. But hardly anyone is willing to pay that price. No brand was able to grow beyond a very small niche, which unfortunately meant that the impact was negligible.

So we thought further:

production in the EU? Sounds good. Fair, closer, professional—or so

we thought. But here too, there were many small businesses, lots of transport, and hardly any integrated processes. This is difficult from an ecological and organizational point of view if you want to be consistently sustainable. It worked for socks (more on that here).

And then we remembered an old Swiss brand: Switcher.

Most people still remember it—durable shirts that lasted forever. Quality you could feel. Switcher was already a pioneer in sustainability in the 1980s—and even back then, ,it produced fairly in India, , where the best organic cotton grows.

The SLOW! Shirts collection is the result of Switcher's experience combined with our uncompromising approach to sustainability. Today, we develop and produce our shirtsentirely in India – which means that

everything from the cotton field to the weaving mill, dyeing, cutting, sewing, and final washing takes place within a radius of just 20 kilometers.

This allows us to save CO₂, ensure fair working conditions, and maintain full transparency across the entire value chain.
