Washo stain doctor: ink and ballpoint pen stains
Ballpoint pen stains? That wasn't on the schedule! 🖊️
Whether at the office, at school, or on the sofa doing your tax return—one moment of inattention and your favorite shirt is adorned with a blue line.
But don't panic! Dr. Washo shows you how to remove ink and ballpoint pen from your clothes without using chemicals.
🔍 The diagnosis
🖊️ One moment of inattention... Ballpoint pen stains are the ninja stains of everyday life:
they appear quickly, are conspicuous, and are often difficult to remove—especially when the ink has dried.
But with a little know-how and natural remedies,
you can get them out again. Promise!
🚨 Immediate help for ink:
- Do not rub! This will only smear the ink even more.
- Place an absorbent cloth under the fabric and dab the stain with a cotton pad soaked in alcohol .
- Alternatively, you can usehairspray with a high alcohol content or disinfectant without additives .
- Pre-treatment with alcohol:
Soak a cotton pad or cloth with alcohol (e. g., isopropyl alcohol or disinfectant) and dab the stain carefully— from the outside in. - Natural life hack:
Soak the fabric (if it is not delicate) in milk for at least 30 minutes.
The proteins in the milk can dissolve ink particles. Then rinse thoroughly. - Stain remover for extra help:
Rub Washo stain removerinto the remaining stainand leave it to work for 10–15 minutes. - Washing:
Wash the garment as usual, preferably at 40 ° C (if permitted).
✅ Dos & ❌ Don'ts
✅ Do this:
- Use alcohol or methylated spirits (in small amounts)
- Always place a cloth underneath—this will draw the ink out, not spread it
- Experiment with milk—especially on delicate fabrics
❌ Avoid:
- Rubbing or scrubbing—this often makes the stain worse
- Hot water on fresh ink stains
- Put directly in the washing machine without pre-treatment

Ink on jeans or cotton?
Make a paste from lemon juice and baking, soda, apply it, let it soak in, and then wash it out.
Works especially well with dark or blue ink.
