Washo stain doctor: Wax and candle stains
Candle wax on the tablecloth? And it was so cozy!
Whether it's Christmas dinner, a romantic evening, or a children's birthday party—a drop of wax always finds its way onto fabric.
But don't worry: Dr. Washo will show you how to get rid of this classic stain naturally.
🔍 The diagnosis
Candles create atmosphere – wax, unfortunately, creates stress.
Once it drips, it hardens – and is usually visible in the middle of the tablecloth, sofa throw, or blouse.
But with a tried-and-tested trick and natural helpers, you're guaranteed to get the stain out.
🚨 Immediate help & Caution:
- Let the wax harden! Don't wipe it off immediately.
- Then carefully scrape offas much as possible with a spoon or blunt knife .
- 🥶 Freezing:
Place the fabric in the freezer—this will make it easier to crumble off the wax. Freezing is a common tip and it really does help. Always do this on your first attempt!
🧽 Step-by-step instructions
- for removing wax residue:
Place the fabric between two layers of blotting paper, baking paper, or kitchen paper . - . Iron out the wax:
Set the iron to medium heat (without steam!) and carefully iron over the paper.
The paper will absorb the melted wax from the fabric. - Treat the stain:
Apply lemon juice or a little alcohol to the remaining wax layer (usually dye residue). - Use stain remover soap:
Rub the area with Washo stain remover soap and leave it to work for 10–15 minutes. - Wash:
Then put it in the washing machine – with a little Washo active oxygen , to remove dye residue.
✅Dos & ❌ Don'ts
✅ Do this:
- Always let the wax harden first
- Work with blotting paper + iron
- Pre-treat the stain again after ironing
❌Avoid:
- Wiping away liquid wax immediately – it will only spread
- Ironing too hot (can damage fabrics)
- Hot water on wax residues
