What about the small print on the packaging?

Washo is registered in the public Swiss Product Register of Chemicals (RPC) and, like all detergents on the market, is required by law to display specific warning/safety information (H and P phrases) on the packaging. The wording is predefined and may not be changed.

Most of these will come as no surprise to you, as hopefully everyone is aware that washing powder should be kept away from children, not rubbed into their eyes or even swallowed... Nevertheless, this information can be unsettling, which is why we have asked our Swiss auditing company for a clear explanation for our customers.

This is what the external specialist says: "The mandatory P and H phrases were actually formulated primarily for the situation in the manufacturing chemical industry, where large quantities of products with correspondingly greater hazards are used. Nevertheless, these are mandatory even for small quantities. The following sentence can be particularly irritating: "Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects".Our expert also has a plausible explanation for this.

This is what the external specialist says: "If the sum of the ingredients classified with H412 (and these are surfactants in all detergents) in the mixture is greater than 25% of the total weight, this rate must be indicated. The percentage of Washo is also so high because the product has a total weight of just 2g. However, precisely because of its low weight, the following applies to Washo: "The low consumption of raw materials conserves resources and promotes the sustainable development of our planet.

The Washo dishwasher tabs are basically designed according to a multifunctional formula ("all in one"). This means that it already contains a certain amount of regenerating salt and a clear/bright rinsing function.

For optimum washing results, however, we recommend using additional regenerating salt for hard water and rinse aid for very hard water.

When the lime content in the water is increased, the efficiency of the complexing agent or of the natural ingredients and this can have a negative effect on the rinsing result.

Please always take into account the water hardness at the place of use: Find out the water hardness in your area.

Are there also free samples for the dishwasher tabs?

We will soon also be able to offer free samples of Washo dishwasher tablets. On the one hand, because the initial costs and packaging costs for individual tabs are disproportionately high and, on the other hand, because they are not suitable for sending by post.

What do I have to do regarding when storing Washo Tabs?

The Washo Tabs are designed according to a strict ECO recipe and made with natural ingredients. In connection with the deliberate omission of the plastic/PVA film and the sustainable paper packaging, the sustainable dishwasher tabs are somewhat more susceptible to moisture than conventional products.

This is why it is important that the tabs are stored in a dry place and not for months. We recommend prompt consumption within 2-3 months.

How many Washo Tabs do I need per wash cycle?

In principle, you can use 1 Washo dishwasher tab (<20g) per wash cycle. This applies to a normal-sized dishwasher with a full load.

If you have a mini dishwasher at home, you can also use a 1/2 Washo Tab without any problems. This prevents the overdosing of rinse aid activators and protects both your dishes and the resources of our planet.

For optimum washing results, we recommend that you use additional regenerating salt with hard water and additional rinse aid with very hard water.

Where is the best place to put the Washo Tab in my machine?

We recommend placing the Washo dishwasher tab directly into the dispensing chamber of your dishwasher. This ensures that it dissolves evenly and develops its effect appropriately.

Do I need salt and rinse aid in addition to the Washo tabs?

Body care

Where are the Washo Care solid shower care and shampoo bars made?

Washo Care solid shower care and shampoo are manufactured in Germany and Switzerland .

Can I shower with Washo Care products in an outdoor shower or wash myself in a lake or stream?

The Washo Care products arebiodegradable. However, biodegradation takes time and we therefore recommend always allowing the products to seep into the ground at a sufficient distance of 20 metres or more from a body of water. Direct application in a lake or stream is therefore not recommended.
For a shower made ofnatural stone materialwe recommend testing the material in an inconspicuous place beforehand. Natural stone reacts sensitively on contact with surfactants and can become discoloured, especially if it is unsealed.

Why are solid products more sustainable than liquid shower gels and shampoos?

There are many reasons that speak in favour of the solid wash pieces. Plastic-free: The product and packaging are completely plastic-free - including microplastics.

Transport: Because the product is so small and compact, it requires only a fraction of the transport volume and weight of liquid shampoos. This also means that far fewer lorries clog up the roads and CO2 emissions during transport are massively reduced.

Natural: Our solid washes are certified as natural cosmetics and therefore contain no petroleum-based ingredients, preservatives, silicones or parabens. They consist of 95% natural ingredients. They are also vegan.

Water-free: The product as well as its production is completely water-free. Accordingly, it is very economical and is sufficient for many applications. When travelling by air, you no longer need to worry about leaks or liquids.

How does Washo Care differ from conventional soaps?

The washing performance in our wash pieces is achieved using plant-based synthetic surfactants (syndets) . Soap, on the other hand, achieves its washing performance through the saponification of vegetable oils in combination with lye. Soap is therefore a "washing suds".

Soap is often not suitable for vegans due to its animal-based ingredients (beef tallow, beeswax). Washo Care's plant-based surfactants, on the other hand, are vegan.

An important difference lies in the pH value. Soap has an alkaline pH value of 8-11, the natural pH value of the skin is slightly acidic and is only 5-6. The pH value of Washo Care products is between 4-6.5 and is therefore much closer to that of the skin than soap products.

Are Washo Care products suitable for people with allergies or sensitive skin?

Synthetic surfactants are much gentler on sensitive skin with a damaged acid mantle than soap, as they are much closer to the skin's own pH value. Many clinical studies confirm the mild effect of surfactants and good tolerability, even with dermatitis or acne.

Our solid wash pieces contain coco-sulphates, which degrease and cleanse the hair and scalp. Coco sulphate is a relatively mild surfactant and is frequently used in natural cosmetics as it is obtained from natural plant oils. However, if you are generally sensitive to sulphates, we advise against using it.

Our washes also contain fragrances that can have a potentially irritating effect on allergy sufferers. The fragrances are derived from natural essential oils and are labelled separately to make allergy sufferers aware of this. Affected fragrances contained in Washo Care are: Linalool, Citral, Gernaiol, Citronellol and Limonene.

What ingredients are in Washo Care products?

How do I use Washo Care solid shower gel and shampoo?

Solid shower products are just as easy to use as liquid shampoos and shower gels. First shower as usual and, if you are using shampoo, rinse your hair thoroughly. Wet the solid shower gel or solid shampoo and rub it briefly between your hands so that it starts to foam. Then you can run it directly over your skin and hair and massage in the foam. Then rinse the foam completely from the skin and hair.

After use, it is important to allow the shampoo or shower gel to dry thoroughly. This works best in the Washo Care wall holder, a suspended Washo Care soap bag or in a soap dish with draining facility.

Where do I place the Washo Care products in the shower?

The solid pieces of shower gel and shampoo must be stored in the shower away from the water jet. This ensures that the product does not wear off and "melt" by itself due to constant contact with water.

How do I store Washo Care solid shower products?

The products must be stored in a dark and dry place and have a shelf life of 24 months after opening.

Is Washo a Swiss company?

Yes! Washo is a genuine Central Swiss company and a Swiss trade mark registered with the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property.

Where does Washo produce?

We are the first company in Switzerland to also offer wash strips from local production in Germany. Our SOFT wash strips are manufactured there on a new production line. As the capacity of the plant is still insufficient for the overall demand, our Classic washing strips are manufactured in a small owner-managed company in Asia. We have committed the company to adhering to strict standards and know the people on site. We are investing heavily in the expansion of our European production facilities so that we can eventually relocate our entire production to Europe.

Produced exclusively for Washo by an ECOCERT-certified German family business, our dishwasher tabs are manufactured according to the highest quality standards and a consistent ECO recipe. Also produced in Germany and with carefully selected ingredients, the Washo additional products such as the ecological oxygen-based bleach, the stain remover soap with soap nut extract, etc. are also produced in Germany. Even the high-quality storage boxes in the stylish Washo design are the result of our high standards of quality and sustainability from German production.

By purchasing Washo, you are supporting our pioneering work and making an important contribution so that we can continue to invest in local production.

Is Washo climate neutral?

In collaboration with Tree-Nation, we have already been able to plant around 500,000 trees, which will provide an additional approx. offset 20,000 tonnes of CO2.

Did Washo invent the washing strips?

No, we didn't invent anything - the concept of washing strips originally comes from Canada. But we were immediately convinced by the idea, which is why we want to make it available to as many households as possible in Switzerland.

Since detergents & Co. As our waterways are being unnecessarily polluted, it makes perfect sense to minimise the consumption of resources and overdosing in this area.

How is Washo committed to sustainability?

Sustainability is very important to us personally and is an integral part of Washo's corporate culture. That's why we don't just blabber, but are committed to the sustainable development of our environment every day.

Why is sustainability particularly important when it comes to washing?

Water has always been the most important resource for all life on our planet. When washing, doing the dishes and cleaning, we all pollute the environment with chemical pollutants directly via the waste water.

Protecting our waters is essential and "everyday" habits such as washing or doing the dishes constantly pollute them to a high degree. For Washo, this is reason enough to tackle both unnecessary environmental pollution and the misappropriation of resources.

How is Washo involved on a social level?

We are all at home on the same earth and we all bear responsibility for our planet - together. That's why we at Washo don't primarily deal with contact persons, but with people. We will never succeed in developing our world sustainably on our own. But together we can have a significant influence on this:

The Washo biscuits are filled with great dedication by the Zuwebe Foundation. We are very grateful for the consistently great cooperation and the cordial dialogue.

Tree-Nation: Trees and jobs

Planting trees with Tree-Nation not only contributes to global reforestation but also creates hundreds if not thousands of jobs in parts of the world where people have no work and sometimes no prospects at all.
