What about the small print on the packaging?

Washo is listed in the Swiss Public Product Register for Chemicals (RPC) and, like all detergents on the market, must display legally required warning/safety information (H and P statements) on its packaging. The wording is specified and may not be changed.

Most of these warnings will come as no surprise to you, as it is hopefully clear to everyone that detergents should be kept away from children, should not be rubbed into the eyes, and should not be swallowed... Nevertheless, these warnings can be unsettling, which is why we asked our Swiss testing company to provide a clear explanation for our customers.

Here is what the external specialist had to say: "The mandatory P and H phrases were actually formulated primarily for the chemical manufacturing industry, where large quantities of products with correspondingly greater hazards are used. Nevertheless, these are mandatory even for small quantities.

The following sentence can be particularly irritating: "Harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects."Our expert also has a plausible explanation for

this.

The external specialist says:"If the sum of the ingredients classified as H412 (and these are surfactants in all detergents) in the mixture accounts for more than 25% of the total weight, this sentence must be stated. In Washo, the percentage is so high because the product has a total weight of just 2g. However, it is precisely because of its low weight that Washo's low consumption of raw materials conserves resources and promotes the sustainable development of our planet."

Why are solid products more sustainable than liquid shower gels and shampoos?

There are many reasons to choose solid soap bars. Plastic-free: : The product and packaging are completely plastic-free—including microplastics.

Transportation: Because the product is so small and compact, it requires only a fraction of the transport volume and weight of liquid shampoos. This means that far fewer trucks clog up the roads and CO2 emissions during transport are significantly lower.

Natural: Our solid soap bars are certified natural cosmetics and therefore contain no petroleum-based ingredients, preservatives, silicones, or parabens. They consist of 95% natural ingredients. They are also vegan.

Water-free: Both the product and its manufacture are completely water-free. Accordingly, it is very economical and lasts for many uses. When traveling by air, you no longer need to worry about spills or liquid regulations.

How does Washo Care differ from conventional soaps?

The cleaning power in our laundry bars comes from plant-based synthetic surfactants (syndets) . Soap, on the other hand, gets its cleaning power from the saponification of plant oils in combination with lye. So soap is

basically a " washing lye."

Because of its animal-based ingredients (beef tallow, beeswax), soap is often not suitable for vegans. The plant-based surfactants in Washo Care, on the other hand, are vegan.

. An important difference lies in the pH value. Soap has an alkaline pH value of 8-11, while the natural pH value of the skin is slightly acidic at only 5-6.The pH value of Washo Care products is between 4-6.5, which is much closer to that of the skin than soap products..

Are Washo Care products suitable for people with allergies or sensitive skin?

For sensitive skin with a damaged acid mantle, synthetic surfactants are much gentler than soap, as they are much closer to the skin's own pH value. Many clinical studies confirm the mild effect of surfactants and their good tolerability, even in cases of dermatitis or acne.

Our solid soap bars contain coco sulfate, , which degreases and cleanses the hair and scalp. Coco sulfate is a relatively mild surfactant and is very commonly used in natural cosmetics as it is derived from natural vegetable oils. However, if you are generally sensitive to sulfates, we recommend Washo Care Swiss Edition. This is produced entirely without sulfates.

Our soap bars also contain fragrances, that, may be potentially irritating to people with allergies. The fragrances are derived from natural essential oils and are listed separately to alert people with allergies. The fragrances contained in Washo Care are: linalool, citral, geraniol, citronellol, and limonene.

What ingredients are in Washo Care products?

How do I use Washo Care solid shower care and shampoo?

Using solid shower products is just as easy as using liquid shampoos and shower gels. First, shower as usual and, if you use shampoo, rinse your hair thoroughly. Wet the solid shower gel or shampoo and rub it briefly between your hands until it starts to foam. Then you can rub it directly onto your skin and hair and massage in the lather. Rinse the lather completely from your skin and hair.

After use, it is important to let the shampoo or shower product dry completely. This is best done in the Washo Care wall holder , , a hanging Washo Caresoap bag, or a soap dish with a drip tray.

Where do I place the Washo Care products in the shower?

Solid shower care and shampoo bars must be stored in the shower away from the water jet. This ensures that the product does not wear away and "melt" due to constant contact with water.

How do I store Washo Care solid shower products?

The products must be stored in a dark, dry place and have a shelf life of 24 months after opening.

We are now the first company in Switzerland to produce all our laundry strips locally in Germany. Our laundry strips are manufactured there on a new production line. The relocation of our entire production to Europe is a major milestone that has taken several years to achieve and now sets Washo apart from other suppliers on the Swiss market.

The dishwasher tablets, natural active oxygen, stain remover soap, Washo Care line, and cleaning and dishwashing powders are also manufactured in Germany. Even the high-quality storage containers in the stylish Washo design are the result of our high standards of quality and sustainability in German production.

We are very proud to support Swissproducers with Washo CareSwiss Edition products, the wooden measuring spoon, and dishwashing brushes made from Swiss wood.

By purchasing Washo, you are supporting our pioneering work and making an important contribution to our continued investment in local production.

Is Washo climate neutral?

Yes! Both Washo as a company and the Washo brand are certified as climate neutral by Carbon Connect. We fully offset all CO2 emissions from production and transport.

In addition, we plant a tree for every pack of Washo laundry strips, Tumbler Balls, Washo Tabs, oxygen bleach, etc. sold. In collaboration with Tree-Nation, we have already planted around 500,000 trees, which offset an additional 20,000 tons of CO2.

For more information about our tree project, visit our Washo Forest.

Did Washo invent the washing strips?

No! We didn't invent anything – the concept of laundry strips originally comes from Canada. But we were immediately convinced by the idea, which is why we want Householdto make them Householdavailable to as many people as possible in Switzerland Household.

Since laundrydetergents directly pollute our waters unnecessarily, it makes perfect sense to limit the consumption of resources and overuse in this area to a reasonable minimum.

How is Washo committed to sustainability?

Sustainability is very important to us personally and an integral part of Washo's corporate culture. That's why we don't just talk about it, we are committed to the sustainable development of our environment every day.

We are:

Tree-Nation partners
For every pack of Washo laundry strips, Washo tabs, Tumbler Balls, oxygen bleach, etc. sold, we plant a tree together with Tree-Nation. This means we not only offset all CO2 emissions from production and transport, but also all emissions from your laundry cycles. To date, we have planted approximately 500,000 trees, which offset around 20,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

Why is sustainability particularly important when it comes to washing?

Water has always been the most important resource for all life on our planet. When washing, doing the dishes, and cleaning, we all pollute the environment with chemical pollutants directly through our wastewater.

Protecting our waterways is essential, and "everyday" habits such as washing or doing the dishes constantly pollute them to a high degree. For Washo, this is reason enough to take action and combat both unnecessary environmental pollution and the misuse of resources.

How is Washo involved on a social level?

We all live on the same planet and we all share responsibility for our planet. That is why at Washo, we don't primarily deal with contacts, but with people. We will never achieve sustainable development in our world on our own. But together, we can have a significant impact:

ZUWEBE Foundation: Washo samples

The Washo samples are bottled with great dedication by the Zuwebe Foundation. We are very grateful for the consistently excellent cooperation and cordial dialogue.

Tree-Nation: Trees and jobs

Planting trees with Tree-Nation not only contributes to global reforestation, but also creates several hundred, if not thousands, of jobs in parts of the world where people have no work and, in some cases, no prospects at all.
