Who invented it?

We haven't invented anything. The idea is so simple that we didn't even think of it ourselves.

The innovation originally comes from Canada and is already known in many parts of the world. We were immediately convinced by the idea of washing more sustainably and protecting our waters. With the Washo washing strips, we now want to make this option available to all Swiss households as quickly as possible.

This is included in our washing strips

Washo deliberately opts for a minimalist composition for the sake of the environment.

  • Non-ionic surfactants
  • Water
  • Anionic surfactants
  • Fragrances (Fresh Breeze, Lavender, Sensitive)

What makes Washo sustainably clean?

  • Washo is biodegradable and free from microplastics

  • Washo dispenses with unnecessary additives

  • Washo is vegan, cruelty free and free from animal testing

  • Washo focusses on recycling instead of disposable waste

  • Washo is registered in the Swiss Product Register of Chemicals (RPC) and, like all detergents, must carry statutory warnings on the packaging.

The wording of these instructions is precisely prescribed and most of them will come as no surprise to you: It's clear that you keep laundry detergent away from children, don't rub it in your eyes or even swallow a Washo.

Despite this, we have asked our Swiss testing company for a clear explanation for our customers:

"The mandatory P-phrases were actually formulated primarily for the situation in the manufacturing chemical industry, where large quantities of products with correspondingly greater hazards are used. Nevertheless, these are always mandatory, even for small quantities.»

  • The following sentence is particularly irritating for consumers: "Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects". That's why the specialist explained the background to this to us.

"If the sum of the ingredients classified with H412 (and these are surfactants in all detergents) in the mixture is greater than 25%, this rate must be indicated. The percentage of Washo is also so high because the product is only 2g light in total. However, precisely because of its low weight, Washo's low consumption of raw materials conserves resources and promotes sustainable development of the planet.»

Wo produziert Washo?

Washo wash strips

We are the first company in Switzerland to also offer washing strips from local production in Germany. Our "Sensitive" wash strips are manufactured there on a new production line. As the capacity of the plant is still insufficient for the overall demand, our Classic washing strips are manufactured in a small owner-managed company in Asia. We have committed the company to adhering to strict standards and know the people on site. We are investing heavily in the expansion of our European production facilities so that we can eventually relocate our entire production to Europe.

Washo Geschirrspültabs & Co.

Produced exclusively for Washo by an ECOCERT-certified German family business, our dishwasher tabs are manufactured according to the highest quality standards and a consistent ECO recipe. Also produced in Germany and with carefully selected ingredients, Washo's additional products such as the ecological oxygen-based bleach, the stain remover soap with soapnut extract, etc. are also produced in Germany. Even the high-quality storage boxes in the stylish Washo design are the result of our high standards of quality and sustainability from German production.

By purchasing Washo, you are supporting our pioneering work and making an important contribution so that we can continue to invest in local production.
